In the first week of India's lockdown, 95 per cent backed it and 82 per cent believed India would beat the pandemic, yet 93 per cent expected the economy to be badly hit
In the first week of the national lockdown, we wanted to know what the country was feeling, and we wanted the answer fast.
A telephone survey of 1,189 adults across fifteen cities was designed, fielded and reported within the week, self-funded and circulated freely.
Support for the lockdown was near universal and most believed the country would beat the pandemic; at the same time nearly everyone expected the economy to be badly hit, and graduate professionals were markedly more apprehensive than other groups. The snapshot travelled widely across the industry and the press.
