Privacy notice

How Big Blue Banyan, trading as Kanoren, collects and uses personal data when you interact with us or take part in our research.

Who we are

Big Blue Banyan Pte. Ltd. (Singapore) and Big Blue Banyan (India) Pvt. Ltd. (Bangalore) together trade as Kanoren. The entity that contracts a study is the controller of the personal data collected for it. Questions and requests go to projects@bigbluebanyan.com.

What we collect

Contact data when you write to us or we work with you: name, organisation, role, business email and telephone. Research data when you take part in a study: your answers, and, with your consent, audio or video recordings. Website data: pages visited and the device and browser used, through our hosting provider's standard logs. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use research data

Only for the study you agreed to take part in, and in aggregate. We never identify a respondent to a client. Recordings are used to check and analyse the interview and are deleted at project close unless you were told otherwise. Taking part is voluntary and you may stop at any time.

Sharing and transfer

Fieldwork and transcription partners process data under written agreements and only for the study. Data may be processed in India or Singapore, and online fieldwork data may be hosted by survey platforms outside those countries under their published safeguards.

Retention

Research data is kept for the life of the project and the period the contract requires, then deleted. Contact data is kept while we work together and for a reasonable period after.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent, by writing to projects@bigbluebanyan.com. We respond within the time the applicable law requires.
