In a neighbouring market an Indian belt maker had a known name and a quality image, but needed local distributors and an answer to low-cost imports

Market entryAutomotive components and industrial power transmission (B2B)

An Indian maker of automotive and industrial belts wanted to enter a neighbouring market and needed its size, its structure and its partners.

We interviewed distributors, retailers and factory buyers across three cities, sized the market, estimated shares and profiled forty potential partners.

The brand was known and well regarded; three in four of those met reacted positively. The blockers were low-cost imports, belt-size mismatches and a demand for exclusivity. We named one lead distributor per segment and city.
